BBQ Competition/Music Festival: The 5th annual Stokin' the Fire BBQ and Music Festival will be held at Sloss Furnaces. More than 80 local amateur teams will compete in the categories of chicken, ribs, desserts, and burgers, plus People's Choice. In addition to the barbecue, expect salsa and Cajun dancing demonstrations and an iron pour performed by the Sloss Furnaces metal arts staff. Cowboy Mouth, as well as other local and regional acts, will provide live music, and there will be a kids' area with crafts and inflatables. Tickets range from free (kids under five) to $50 (family of four). $150 to register a team (deadline August 7, there are 20–30 team slots still open). The dessert and burger competitions will be held on Friday, and the main barbecue competition, plus live music, will be held on Saturday. Sloss Furnaces, 20 32nd Street North.
